NAYO to disappear

Sad news today – but not unexpected – that the National Association of Youth Orchestras (NAYO) is to close down on 31st March after 45 years. Its press release says:

“Recently NAYO’s situation has been made more difficult by the recession and the substantial reduction in the funding available for charities. This situation has been made far worse by the recent unexpected decision of a major public funding body to withdraw all ongoing funding. This left NAYO at short notice without funds to pay the ongoing cost of core services and professional staff necessary for such a charity to generate the necessary funds in order to operate, and as a result the directors have been forced to take this decision.”

I can only refer you all to my previous post. A very sad day.
